Beautiful Clock, looks better in person than it does online!
This really is a nice clock. Made mostly of what appears to be real wood, it is very elegant. It seems that they did not skimp anywhere on this time piece! Even the individual 1-12 numerals are individual “gold numerals” and NOT just “printed on a dial”.(Gold color, not real gold I assume) The clock keeps very good time and the batteries last for many months so it is also very efficiently designed. This is my second one (this one is a gift) so I have had the first one for about a year and it is still on the first battery. You can control the volume and you can deactivate the chimes at night if that is your thing. You have 2 different chime sound options. It is very easy to set, just put it to the correct time and it chimes the right amount of times. You don’t need to “synchronize” it or wait at every hour like older clocks (well…I didn’t and it works like clockwork…pun intended). It is a bit of a hassle to turn the hands with the small “gear” in the back but you shouldn’t have to do it but a handful of times over the life of the clock so not such a big deal. The bottom line is: This is a high quality, very expensive looking, wooden clock made my Seiko so you are buying into proven quality and I feel like they delivered. It looks and feels more expensive than it is (IMO). It keeps very good time. It DOES NOT suck the life out of batteries like low quality clocks, it is somewhat flexible in sounds meaning you can choose from 2 different chimes, you have control over volume and you can kill the sound altogether if you choose. If you want something made of wood, built nicely, with the old fashioned sounding Westminster chimes then this is definitely worth the price Amazon is asking.

BEAUTIFUL
BEAUTIFUL!!! In every way this clock is beautiful. The clock face has scroll work, the penduleum has raised / embossed scroll work, the glass front has a lovely gold border and the reed columns have brass details. It fits perfectly between two windows, please note the smaller size when you order. It has an adjustable volumn control and the tone is very soothing. You can’t go wrong with the clock.

Beautiful clock
Perfect!!! I got tired of winding my old clock, every time I did it become unbalanced. Trying to balanced it was a nightmare. I bought this one battery operated, no winding and very nice looking. Best decision

Works fine. Instructions can be improved.
I grew up with a pendulum wall clock that lasted for years. We had a mechanical one that you wind up and change time by opening a front door. This only has access from the back. So you have to take down the whole clock to change time (e.g. daylight savings). Would be nice if there was a way to change for daylight savings time. The instructions also do not show how to open the clock. Apparently the back panel slides up so that you can pop it out using the hole on the panel.. We had to call Seiko help. Once we got it up on the wall, the chime for the quarter hour was off. After about 2 hours, it adjusted itself and the chimes work fine now. We also put the volume to low since it was too loud for us. For now, the clock is okay. Color and size are perfect.

High quality and excellent sounding chimes
Purchased this Seiko wall clock because I wanted a large wall clock that would chime. Originally wanted a mechanical but found I could not afford that kind of wall clock. Since I purchased 2 Seiko chiming table clocks around 12 years ago and both of them continue to work perfectly, I decided to stay with Seiko. The clock keeps excellent time. Uses only one battery which lasts forever it seems and the quality of the chimes is excellent. The chime quality on my other desk clocks is also excellent and that is why I stayed with Seiko. Listened to other brands and found the chimes very digital sounding. Some reviewers find taking the clock off the wall to adjust the volume, time, etc. a nuisance but once the volume is determined, one only has to change the time twice a year if you have daylight savings time. Since the clock is only 13lbs, it is not heavy to remove and one can place back on the hook easily. Used a 50lb hook to be safe and it hooks securely. The pendulum is also very nice. I consider this a high quality wall clockclock The pendulum is only for decorative purposes anyway and does not contribute to keeping time.Looking forward to having this clock for many years to come. Also, I discovered Seiko provides a replacement mechanism if the it should break so that is nice to know. I could swap out the mechanicals if necessary.Update: November 2018: The wall clock continues to run flawlessly. Just changed the time due to the end of daylight savings time. Very happy with this purchase.

Excellent Quality & Beautiful
Such a lovely clock and well made. If there would be one way to improve upon it, I would say they need to make more of these clocks that allow you to access the hands from the front, instead of taking the clock off the wall twice a year when daylight savings time starts or ends. I love the chimes and the dark wood matches my decor perfectly

Good quality finishEasy to setup & mounting2x chimes as stated in listingOnly negative (subjective) is that you cannot select for quarterly, half-hourly or hourly chimes. It’s all or nothing. I went with the chimes being on (set to mute between 11pm and 6am) initially but found it was overbearing with the clock chiming every 15 mins. So now I have a lovely (and silent) clock. Why in this electronic age one cannot select between these 3 options escapes me. Otherwise a 5 Star clock!

This seiko wall clock was more than I was expecting. It is a solid oak cabinet with a Seiko time piece in the back. Assembly was easy but I found adjustments were hard as it needed taking down off the wall and the volume knob was small. I did know this from reviews I had read. One other thing is it seems to chime slowly. Hmm I think that is normal. But sound is beautiful.
