Not Yankee Stadium Bright. But Perfect for Backyard Croquet Nights
This set of lights is not part of a traditional croquet set, but it’s going to be a welcome element for lighting our backyard night games this coming summer. This 100-foot LED string light set by Minetom is just the right length to run alongside our 50-foot-long croquet court area behind the house. Its 100-foot length will allow for a double row of lights to hang from the bamboo grove that acts as the border of the court.This is an AC-powered 31 bulb string with an IP65 waterproof rating, plus UL certification. I’m looking forward to having family and friends see the display of 2700K warm white Edison-style bulbs. These lights will definitely add a festive touch to backyard game time. Even though warm weather is still a ways away, I strung the string up into the grove as a proof-of-concept. (See photos and video). Integrated hooks on the bulb bases made for easy securing to the bamboo branches, so installation went quickly and easily.While putting up the set it was obvious that this gear is of a rugged, beefy caliber that should stand up to the rigors of weather, as advertised. As far as croquet goes, it is unlikely that any croquet balls will be launched up into the air to threaten the bulbs. But if they did, the bulbs are shatterproof, and that’s always a good thing.In my late winter lighting rehearsal for summer fun, the bamboo grove is looking a little bedraggled. (Thank you polar vortex). Nevertheless, this set’s warm lighting gave the foliage a pleasant glow. That said, pleasant does not equal Yankee Stadium. The lighting from this set’s glow alone is not going to be entirely sufficient to light the full court. It’s more of a theatrical scene-setting element. And it certainly nailed that role. I’ll be lighting the court itself with a big solar light shining down from a tall bamboo pole.The included remote has the typical dimming settings, as well as steady-on plus effects modes. There’s a timer option and of course on/off. A button on the power adapter also provides on/off, plus steady-on and effects, and that will be perfect for my preferred remote-free use. The set will simply always be running full blast, in steady mode. Brightness level is reasonably bright, considering the whole affair is running on 24V. And that, ladies and gentlemen, is the wonder of LED technology.This is not my first order of Minetom-branded string lights. This past holiday season I got two of their Christmas light strings, and they were top notch. This string is no exception. There’s a comfort value in going into a purchase with confidence that the product is coming from a dependable brand.Based on my experience, that’s the case here. If you’re looking for a well-constructed set of LED string lights with a festive gestalt, that comes with all the expected modern perks of weather resistance, low power draw and shatterproof bulbs, there’s a lot to like here, at reasonable cost.

Convenient Remote, but Bulbs Are Spaced Too Far Apart
The spacing between each bulb is noticeably wider than other strands I’ve had. The listing makes them look closer together than they are. The bulbs themselves are pretty standard for an outdoor strand.The remote is the biggest upgrade, it makes a huge difference not having to plug and unplug them each time. The timer function is also really convenient.I just wish there were more bulbs along the strand, as 32 over 100 ft feels a bit sparse. Overall, it’s a good set with great features, but the spacing could be better.
